Self Help Audio Recordings

For the best possible results when using an audio CD to assist in personal development, the following guidelines need to be followed...

  • Put aside a time each and every day to use your CD
  • Ensure that you will not be disturbed during that time.
  • Contrary to common belief, effective self-hypnosis is a mentally active process and not a passive one therefore...
  • The best form of practice is to sit in an upright chair. A dining chair is ideal, but if it is too uncomfortable, use an armchair but sit as upright as you can.
  • Keep the arms and legs uncrossed, turn on the CD and close your eyes.
  • Do not "lounge" in the chair. Keep the spine erect but unstrained. Use a cushion in the small of the back if necessary.
  • Keep the mind alert and concentrate on the CD to the best of your abililties. If the mind wanders, do not become overly concerned, just bring your attention back as soon as you realise you have "drifted away".
  • Be committed to us the CD every day. Set a period of about 3 months, you should gradually see an improvement and this will motivate you to stick to the practice.

FEELING THE HERE AND NOW

Most people spend their lives mentally 'out of time'. That is.. in a state of regret about the past, or anxiety about the future. All this has come about through early training... "You must think about your future!" or "That was a stupid thing to go and do!" are among common statements that we are subjected to as we grow up. It is these negative statements that train us to be 'out of time' - not in the 'here and now'.  Eventually, living with our consciousness stretched in this way causes stress - a psychological pulling away from our natural need to be in the 'centred-ness' of the here and now

I am not suggesting it is wrong to make plans or reminisce, but I am saying it that this can be done with an underlying consciousness of the continuance of the here and now.

The audio CD, 'Feeling the Here and Now' has been developed to assist the participant to do just that... Live life with the mind focused in the present moment and promote greater awareness of Self in the world. It is not an easy meditative CD to use - past conditioning can put up quite a fight - but there are positive rewards for anyone who is willing to commit to its use on an day to day basis.

WEIGHT CONTROL

Hypnosis helps people to lose weight by assisting to reduce the appetite. This is done, by encouraging a positive self-image at a subconscious level.

If you are overweight and do not overeat, it may be the types of food that you are eating.

If you feel that you eat the correct types of food and you do not eat in excess, you may have a physical problem and you would be well advised to visit your G.P. (medical practitioner)  before using hypnosis tape recordings or CDs.

With hypnosis, suggestion is never used to make a person under-eat, therefore weight loss may be a little slow but it tends to be more permanent because the appetite becomes moderate and healthy. Sessions with the CD are recommended on a daily basis until the appetite is normal again. The length of time this can take varies from individual to individual.  If your appetite is unaffected whilst using the recordings, you are advised to see a practitioner for face to face hypnotherapy to address any stress-related factors.

With the audio CD, there is no 'goal weight' to aim for. Each participant needs to judge their progress on what they feel and not on what the scales 'say'. Learning to accept yourself as you  actually are can have remarkable, beneficial results on self-esteem and that is the reason why many people want to lose weight in the first place.

A person may overeat because of stress and/or to satisfy other 'inner' needs. In these cases, the subconscious mind is influenced to release and resolve inner conflicts, thus enabling the subject to eat only for physical health and not as a means to reduce stress. Face to face sessions with a therapist are recommended to deal with stress-eating.
